Common Succulent Diseases
- Root Rot: The most common succulent killer, caused by overly wet or dense soil. Leaves turn yellow, become translucent or mushy, and drop off easily.
- Solution: Stop watering. Remove the plant from the pot, cut away any black/rotting roots, let them dry (callus), and re-pot in fresh, gritty soil.
- Powdery Mildew: Appears as a white, powdery dust on the surface of the leaves. It thrives in high-humidity, stagnant air.
- Solution: Remove severely affected leaves and improve air circulation. Spray with a diluted Hydrogen Peroxide mixture or a copper-based fungicide.
- Leaf Spot/Fungal Rots: Black or dark greasy/mushy blotches on the leaves or core of the plant.
- Solution: Cut away the infected areas using clean, sterilized scissors. Apply a garden fungicide and keep the foliage perfectly dry when watering.
